Matthew Sedmock was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, spending a majority of his adolescent years living at 1414 Piper Court.  He played football and “Kick the Can” on this street.  He played baseball on the field in front of Lehman High School, a stone’s-throw away just at the other end of Harper Place.  He also hung out with friends a couple of blocks away at Cottage Market, sharing RC Cola, Hostess fruit-filled pies and, in later years, Stroh’s beer.  He also crossed this street on many humid evenings so that he could sit on the porch of the house across the street, hoping that Trudy would be there, visiting her sister.  His friend, David Ready, picked him up in his bronze Pontiac on this street, to go to school, movies, the mall, John’s Bar, and Walther’s Cafe.

His parents sold their home here in 2008 and moved into an apartment.

  1. Oh Matt! How great to see this photo of Piper Court. Life on Piper Court was pretty great – what wonderful memories we have to share. I know you weren’t the only boy hoping Trudy would come to visit her sister! I can’t believe you got a picture of our street without cars parked everywhere. Hope all is well with you and Donna!

  2. Matthew,
How terribly sad to hear about Chuck how beautiful a tribute. He will be missed and remembered in my prayers as well as the prayers of all whose lives he touched.

The Joss has certainly surfaced lately….og course, with Chuck’s passing, and the fact that I will have graduated from there 30 years ago this past May 13th. (you remember Ron Valladao or Gary Short? They love in Louisville, and I’m off to see them this weekend. So, we’ll have lots to talk about.) Update me on you…..here’s my personal email: matthewsedmock@aol.com
